Pousada Bela Vista

Charming and affordable. The pousada is well placed, and we could get around on foot or by bicycle, except for the tours we'd booked through companies. It's simple but clean, and since we spent more time out than in the room, nothing bothered us. Breakfast was great. I'd stay again for the value.

The team are very friendly, especially Sandra, who was so attentive. Breakfast has lots of variety, with fruit, bread, cakes, eggs, tapioca, and juices. The location is central and makes it easy to get around the island. Xica da Silva, one of the island's best restaurants, is right across the street. The rooms are comfortable and have air conditioning and a minibar, but they feel a bit cramped for the number of people they're meant to sleep. The pool is small, though it was enough since it wasn't used much.

The staff treated me horribly, and one of them mistreated me. The shower had weak water pressure, the bathroom was small, and the air conditioner only pointed toward one side of the room. They didn't tell us clearly that the pool was under maintenance, and it was filthy. Breakfast was poor. They say one thing when you arrive, then do something else. They iron bed linen and other items on the breakfast table. The staff aren't prepared to receive tourists and show no professionalism. Nobody checked whether everything was okay, whether we needed anything else, or whether the stay was going well. Some rooms had mosquito screens and others didn't. Ours had none, and they didn't provide repellent. My family and I are allergic, and we were bitten by a lot of mosquitoes. We had to pay out of pocket to get some protection because the pousada didn't provide it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT!

The staff were helpful. We asked for a room with a handheld shower, and since there wasn't one, they installed it for us. The internet worked well, which seems rare in Noronha. I enjoyed my stay in the end and would come back. As with everything in Noronha, you pay a lot for a very basic setup. The bathroom shower has no sliding door, just a piece of glass covering half the opening, so water gets all over the bathroom. There's little sound privacy. When someone goes into or leaves the next room, it sounds like they're in yours. Our door was warped or badly fitted, and had to be pulled really hard to close, making a lot of noise.
