Pousada Sueste

We’d definitely recommend this place. It’s clean, the breakfast is good, and there’s afternoon tea too. The people were very friendly.

The calm setting was a big plus for us. The pousada is near Praia do Sueste and away from the center, which suited anyone looking for a quieter place. There’s a bus stop right across the road, with buses every 30 minutes that got us to almost everywhere. For places the bus didn’t serve, taxis picked us up at the pousada and took us to our destination easily. We felt very welcome throughout our stay. Maria and Kátia, affectionately called Katinha, were especially kind, attentive, and helpful, and their service made the stay feel even more special. The place has a cozy, welcoming, family atmosphere, and breakfast is homemade and tasty. I highly recommend staying here. When I get the chance to return to the island, I’ll definitely stay in the same place again.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and breakfast was a real highlight. They made different cakes and pies each morning, all with a lot of care. I loved that. The location was the best part for me. The pousada is by the island’s main access road, where a bus comes every half hour, and it’s close to some of the best beaches: Sueste, Leão, Sancho, Cacimba do Padre, Praia do Bode… I could walk to a few of them, which mattered a lot to me. The staff welcomed me so warmly. They even let me check in before the scheduled time at no extra cost and without making it awkward. They were very helpful, and I wanted to get straight out and explore the island. I’m sure I’ll stay at Liberty next time I’m on the island. I’ve already told the team I’ll be back!

Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of choice. You could also ask for omelets, couscous, and tapioca made fresh early in the morning, and there was a different cake flavor each day. You can tell everything is prepared with care. Our room was very clean overall, the bed was comfortable, and daily cleaning kept everything tidy and pleasant. Special thanks to Maria and Katia for welcoming us so warmly and making us feel at home throughout the stay. The pousada offers good value. It isn’t expensive, and we had an excellent experience for what it provides.
