Pousada Atlantico II

The cheap price ended up costing us. There was no basic setup or comfort, not even toilet paper or drinking water. The air conditioner looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years and was covered in dust. The hosts are elderly, but they could hire someone to clean before guests arrive. Downstairs there’s a place selling hamburgers and drinks, with people talking loudly, smoking, and drinking. All that noise carries into the apartment, and it constantly felt like someone might come in. The place didn’t feel safe at all. I don’t recommend it and won’t return.

The apartment smelled bad, and the bathroom was stained and grimy. The laminate cupboards were falling apart, with rusty screws and hinges. The mattresses were old, and streetlight shone inside. The clear glass lets people walking past the doors see right into the apartment. The TV antenna hangs in the middle of the living room and only gets a few channels. The sofa is filthy and worn, so you have to cover it before sitting. Towels are thin and small. The bunk beds are low and flimsy, unable to hold an adult, so we had to put the mattresses on the floor to sleep. I’ve stayed in lots of places for work and holidays, and never seen anywhere this bad.

This isn’t a pousada, it’s a group of apartments for rent. I’ve stayed everywhere from four-star hotels to hostels, and this was easily one of the worst. They offer almost nothing: just one roll of toilet paper, with no refill, no towel changes, and no cleaning like you’d expect at a pousada. There’s a kitchen but not even dish soap. The towels are tiny and the mattresses are bad. The only kind thing was letting us in and leave our bags before check-in. Keep in mind checkout is at 10:00. The cleaning was awful. I don’t recommend it.
