Pousada Centralmar

It’s right in the center, just a few blocks from Canasvieiras beach, with restaurants, nightclubs, supermarkets, and shops selling crafts and souvenirs nearby. Our room had a private bathroom, minibar, table, kitchenware, air conditioning, cable TV, and internet. There are kitchen facilities too. The terrace looks out over the main streets, and the atmosphere is lovely and friendly.

You can eat your meals on the nice shared terrace, with views of the beach or the main street. The location is excellent, right downtown, and there’s a bar next door with live music every night, though it didn’t bother us. Our room was comfortable and had what we needed, but it was a little small, and the bathroom felt too cramped for four people. We had a shower problem and they came to fix it. There were dishes, a fridge, and a microwave in the room, plus a shared kitchen with pots, dishes, utensils, an electric oven, kettle, stove, and microwave. There was also a washing machine and a laundry sink. One downside: we had to clean our own room.

I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It was the worst stay my family and I have had in Florianópolis. “Seu José” was extremely difficult to deal with and disrespectful to guests. He also lied about the air conditioning: I’d checked that it wasn’t working properly, and he said it was “new.” The room and bathroom were pathetic and inhumane. The attached photo shows the distances between the toilet and the wall, and between the shower and the toilet.

The room we’d booked wasn’t fit to stay in. When we complained about the problems, the owner told us to leave late at night. He could have handled it more professionally and acknowledged the issues with his business. We asked for our money back, and he did refund it.
