The apartment was a letdown, despite being close to the center and the beach. There was a terrible smell throughout, and the so-called common areas weren’t usable. Parking is up to the owner, and you can’t leave after 9 p.m. They didn’t even provide basics like towels. Signs everywhere tell you what you’re not allowed to do, which makes it hard to relax. I was also charged R$100 for “cleaning” without being told beforehand, and debit card payments carry a 15% surcharge. I don’t recommend it.

My worst rental experience in three years living in the wonderful place that is Barra da lagoa. The owner showed prejudice toward a friend just because he’s an artist, a tattooist. We don’t have friends here, only him, and we stopped inviting him over so we wouldn’t have to face the horrible situation of someone being discriminated against for their work. She held onto the deposit money for seven hours because she couldn’t come upstairs, supposedly because she had “cramps,” even though she only had to do the inspection. My partner, our little cat, and I were left outside with all our belongings in the cold during the polar wave on 28/07. She wouldn’t answer calls, so I had to call the police with the contract in hand because she wasn’t keeping to what we’d agreed. I have photos and videos showing I left the apartment as she had handed it over. We always treated everything with love and respect. We’ll never understand why she did this to us. She has no empathy or respect. Just because she’s 44 and I’m 24 doesn’t mean I don’t respect and take care of things. I’m not a child. My mother and father raised me with love and strong values, which this woman lacks.

Claudia and Flavio were so friendly and took time to help with whatever we needed, including giving advice when asked. The inn was excellent. There’s a fantastic barbecue area for dinner, with a grill and all the utensils needed to cook fish or anything else. Definitely recommended.

I stayed for 10 days and felt right at home. The place is cozy, very clean, and close to everything. Claudia was so kind and always ready to help. I’d wake up to birdsong, and I’ll be back.
