Pousada e Hostel Âncora

The pool was always clean, and the service was wonderful. It’s a beautiful place, with a supermarket and pharmacy just around the corner.

We had a wonderful stay at Pousada Ancora in beautiful Barra de Lagoa. The neighborhood is lovely and well located, with shops close by and the beach just a few blocks away. Graciela was consistently attentive and helpful. We could prepare meals in the kitchen and dining room, and there were comfortable sitting areas, a grill, ovens, tables, a pool, and hammocks. The place had all the amenities we needed and was very comfortable. ❤️

The owner was very friendly, and the welcome was great. But we arrived to find one pool dirty and green, which was disappointing. It was cleaned the next day, though it was left without water, so we couldn’t use it. The parking area is tight, but parking was still manageable. The room and bedding smelled musty and were very dusty, including the sheets. My son’s allergic rhinitis made him feel sick, and we couldn’t enjoy the trip. Breakfast had little variety, the powdered juices tasted bad, and as a diabetic I had no whole-grain options. Towels were stained and musty, and weren’t changed often. There were no separate towels for the pool, so you had to use your bath towel. The Wi-Fi signal was terrible.

The host was friendly and the location is a strong point. Breakfast, though, was just bread, cookies, and powdered juice, with no fruit, eggs, or fresh juice. For the price, that felt like very little.
