We were disappointed. We booked through Booking and arrived to find a very dirty room: bread crumbs on the table and floor, a spiderweb by the bed, sand in the shower, and lots of dust on the decorations. The drawers in both bedside tables were greenish from lack of maintenance, and the smell was irritating. From the comments I’d read here and elsewhere, I suspect we were put in an inferior room that wasn’t fit to use. Later I heard the upper rooms even have a view, but we weren’t given that option, so we don’t know if they were clean and airy. We would have had another person join us for the weekend and could even have paid for two spaces, since, according to the owner, the upstairs rooms were smaller than ours. The owner showed little sensitivity in trying to sort it out, and the matter ended with us leaving immediately. We lost 810 golpinhos on the reservation. It’s a shame. I’d suggest using that space for something other than accommodating people. Local businesses lose out when they act this way. The South of the Island deserves better.

Roseli was very attentive and let us check in during the early hours, when our flight arrived, without charging extra, even though check-in is usually at 2 PM. We loved hearing the waves at night. Our room had a small balcony with a sea view, just steps from the waterfront promenade, plus a private bathroom and a little kitchen with a table and chairs. The bed was extra wide and very comfortable. There was air conditioning, a fan, a drying rack, a clothes stand, a microwave, a blender, a sandwich maker, and all the kitchen utensils we needed. She also left us towels.

The service felt more like a hotel than an inn, which was a nice surprise. They changed the towels and mats, tidied up, and cleaned the whole room, and there was even breakfast, which places like this often don’t offer. I stayed in room 02, with the kitchen and bathroom separate from the bedroom. It was really good, though I did wish the balcony had a hammock. The place itself was great, and the staff were so friendly they made me feel at home, like family.

We’ve known this place for years and really enjoy it. The apartments are spacious, well equipped, and comfortable for me to cook despite my gluten and lactose intolerance. It’s almost right by the sea, and the location is handy, with a supermarket nearby. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is top notch. My husband and I like it a lot. I recommend it!
