Smart Hostel

The setup is decent, but they advertise free parking and there isn't any, so you have to leave your car on the street. They also let guests ignore basic shared-space rules. Some were drunk and bothering people, while others played music or videos loudly in their rooms during quiet hours. It made for a really uncomfortable stay.

The place is new, well organized, and in a good location. But the service was disappointing. They took over two hours to confirm my Pix payment, and I was left waiting outside the hostel with no way in. The team seemed disorganized.

It took four months for them to respond to my complaint. With service that slow, I won't stay at this hostel again. I recently stayed at Smart Hostel for the second time, and it was frustrating again. I messaged on WhatsApp to check availability and said I'd pay cash on arrival. When I got there, there was no reception or staff readily available. Their “smart” check-in wasn't efficient: the video intercom barely worked, and I waited outside for several minutes before anyone showed up. The volunteer who eventually helped was friendly, but seemed unprofessional, wearing pajamas and having trouble communicating in Portuguese. The shared rooms are cramped, with 12 beds squeezed into a small space. At least the beds were fairly comfortable, and the air conditioning was a relief in Florianópolis's summer heat. On my last day I asked by WhatsApp to stay one more night. They confirmed and said I could keep using the same entry codes. But when I went out to get something from my car, the code no longer worked and I was locked out. By then I was seriously considering asking for a refund and leaving. I can't recommend this hostel unless they make major improvements to its organization and professionalism.

First stay, and it went great. seu Adriano is such a great guy!
