Uni Hostel

The location was the only good thing. The rooms were really bad, and the bathrooms were worse: filthy, neglected, old, broken, or not working, with nobody cleaning anything. There was no hot water in the shower, and the beds were awful and uncomfortable. The air conditioning did work well, at least. Service was terrible too. The only staff member wasn’t at reception, so it was hard to get hold of him.

I knew there was no breakfast, but there wasn’t even anything available to make one. The hostel’s assistance was very poor. I only saw the person managing it on the first day, then couldn’t find them again. I don’t expect luxury in a hostel, but cleanliness is essential, and this place fell short. A dirty dish sat in the sink from my arrival on Friday until I left Monday morning. When I went to get a glass, there was a cockroach by the sink; later someone killed it on the kitchen table and didn’t even put it in the trash. In the living room, there was dirt left behind after someone swept. The towels weren’t reassuring: they lent me a black one, so I couldn’t tell if it was clean. There was a spiderweb in my room, and the colorful pillowcases looked clean, but the pillows seemed worn out. I had a bad experience and don’t recommend it. Anyone with even modest standards is unlikely to like it.

The staff were attentive and concerned about the place’s security, and the location is excellent. The smoking area is very close to the windows, which was an issue. The curtains around the beds provide nice privacy, and having an individual light and outlet makes the beds quite comfortable.

I’ve been living at Unihostel for a month and plan to stay longer. The neighborhood offers a great quality of life, with universities, restaurants, bakeries, markets, pharmacies, and gas stations nearby. The location is excellent, and the hostel itself is thoughtfully laid out and comfortable: lockers with keys, and a private bed with its own curtain, outlet, light, and shelf, all in a lovely space with a great vibe. The owners have always helped me with information, service, safety, and good company. I’m very grateful for this wonderful place!
