Great!

I stayed for just one night in December 2025, and I wouldn't go back. I like the shared-room hostel setup and have usually had good experiences with the places I choose, but not this one. The area didn't seem very nice, so the locked gate and bell entry at night were a plus. Inside, the beds were old, the clean sheets and pillows smelled musty, and the showers were clogged. There were lockers, but the doors and windows were left unlocked, so I felt there was zero security. I avoided the kitchen and can't speak to it, though some of the guys sharing my room said a few things had been stolen. The receptionist was somewhat unpleasant, while the volunteers were very friendly. I moved to another shared-room hostel and had an excellent stay there, so I wouldn't recommend this one.

I lost three things in under 24 hours, and only one was found. Luca and a white guy from reception whose name I can't remember were helpful, but the other staff were quite unfriendly, especially the women working there at the time. The day after I arrived, I asked whether I could switch beds, and they asked about my schedule, but nothing was confirmed. When I returned, someone had removed my belongings from the room. I never found out who, and that's when my clothes went missing. It's a real shame.

This was an inexpensive hostel, and I'd happily return. It's close to the beach, has no curfew, and someone is always at reception to let you in. Erik welcomed us warmly, explained everything, and was incredibly attentive. The staff were all helpful, and the service was excellent. There are eight shared rooms, some mixed, with air conditioning at night and fans. Each room has a bathroom, plus there are regularly cleaned bathrooms in the common areas. The place is genuinely spotless, with volunteers cleaning often. Guests are asked to leave things in good condition, though some people are messy. Common areas have chairs for meals, and there's a pool, laundry room, and several clotheslines. You can bring food and keep it in the shared fridge or a cupboard. Outside alcohol isn't allowed since they sell drinks there. The kitchen is spacious and open from 6 am to 11 pm, with pots, plates, and a shared refrigerator. Meals aren't included. There are lockers, and you can bring your own padlock or rent one. Security cameras cover the common areas. They provide a blanket and pillow, and you can ask for more. The sheets are a bit old, so you might want to bring your own; they have to wash them constantly because some guests stay only two days. The space can feel small, largely because of the number of tourists. Some arrive with 20 suitcases, and others take hour-long showers without thinking of the people waiting. Quiet hours are respected, though it depends on your roommates: considerate ones keep it down, but the occasional person comes in at 3 am and makes a lot of noise. Check-in is until 11 pm; we arrived around 1 am, and Erik still welcomed us warmly.

It's the cheapest place in Canasvieiras, so with a price that low, I wasn't expecting much luxury. There's no breakfast. The location is excellent, but the rules are strict: after 10 pm, you can't play Jenga or cards, and you have to buy alcoholic drinks there instead of bringing your own. They also fine you if you leave dishes unwashed, which seems fair to me. If you stick to the hours, things are fine.
