Victor Plaza Formiga

The stay just kept getting worse. We arrived around 11 pm and the attendant was rather curt. The first room had a broken shower control that just spun freely, and from the way it looked, it had been out of use for a while. I called the attendant, who checked it and moved us to another room. He said to dial 9 on the intercom if we needed anything. The new room had no toilet paper, and its intercom didn’t work. My son went downstairs to ask for paper and came back with a partly used roll that was nearly empty. Then we found the bathroom light was burned out. At breakfast, there were lots of tiny flies on the cakes, fruit and bread. When we checked out, the attendant didn’t even look up to help us, since she was watching something on her phone.

It’s well located, has a good setup, and breakfast was good. The shower gets hot. But the room hygiene is a major problem and has made me reconsider staying here when I visit Formiga. Last time, there was even a false eyelash on the table beside the bed, and the bed linen was torn.

I don’t usually complain, but the room smelled really bad as soon as I walked in. The duvet on the bed was filthy and smelled awful too. Once I took it off, the smell started to improve. The sheets were dingy and need more attention. Being a work hotel doesn’t excuse this kind of neglect. There was already a lot of noise in the kitchen and breakfast room from 5:30 in the morning.

The location is a real plus: Victor Plaza Hotel is right in the heart of Formiga, MG, close to restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets, so you can get around on foot without using the car. The rooms are spacious, the bed is very comfortable, the air conditioning is good, the Wi-Fi is fast, and everything was spotless. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of breads, cakes, fruit and juices. Free parking is another nice extra. I also appreciated how quickly and attentively they responded on WhatsApp, which made it easy to ask questions and make a reservation. It has that warm Minas Gerais hospitality, and it’s a great choice for visiting Formiga and the Lago de Furnas region.
