Booking and the other reservation apps should screen the inns, hotels, and properties they list more carefully. This place was disgusting, and the surroundings felt frightening. The photos don't match reality at all: there was mold, dirt, and junk everywhere. I didn't even stay. I went in, left, and found somewhere else.

A horrible, abandoned house. He asks for money upfront, saying other people are interested so he can hold the room. We paid before seeing it, then asked for at least half back after we arrived and saw the room. He made an excuse and said he'd send it later, but he still hasn't. He seemed visibly out of his mind, and honestly I was scared. Thank God we got out of there alive.

These apps need to vet the people listing inns, hotels, and properties better. I found this inn through an app and arrived in the morning on a rainy day. The moment I went inside, I was alarmed. Even my 11-year-old son asked, scared, “Mom, is this where we're going to sleep?” There were more than 15 buckets around the house catching leaks. The owner showed me a bathroom where water was seeping through the wall, like a stable, then said not to worry about the leaks because he'd put down a rug so I wouldn't slip. I made an excuse that I had to pick someone up and would come back later. He really seemed to have some kind of psychological problem. I left feeling stunned.

The place was unlivable, and the listing had so many lies. I paid a 50 percent deposit based on the ad, but when I got there it was an old, wrecked house with mold spreading across the walls. I arrived at night and had to spend one awful night there because I couldn't find anywhere else. The next day I found a decent place, thank God, but I was afraid to leave my belongings behind because I didn't trust the owner. We spoke afterward, and he said he'd return half the money. I'm still waiting. He said he'd send it Friday. I'm leaving it in God's hands. He messed with the wrong person, and if he doesn't pay me back, God's hand will weigh on his life.
