Iguaçu Plaza Hotel

The family room we booked was very simple, basically beds squeezed into a regular hotel room, but it was fine. When the air-conditioning had a problem, maintenance came within 30 minutes. They couldn’t fix it, so another 30 minutes later they moved us to a luxury suite. That was fantastic service. There are pools, a pool bar, a kids’ games room, a tour desk, concierge service, and a taxi stand right out front. Reception was great, and the breakfast buffet was excellent. It’s a lovely hotel with good amenities and service.

Breakfast had a good spread, and there’s a gym, a game room, and a playroom for kids. The place is close to everything. The pool felt a little cold, though there’s also a jacuzzi. The front desk staff speak English, and some of the dining staff do too, but not everyone. The elevator is a bit small.

We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and I wish the hotel had acknowledged it more. There were chocolates in our room when we arrived, but nobody even wished us a happy anniversary on the day. Those little details matter on a special occasion. The jacuzzi by the pool was nice, though its air jets felt weak and people didn’t always stick to the 30-minute limit. Breakfast was good, and the rooms are a decent size with a comfortable bed. We had to switch rooms because the one near the lift on the 7th floor had a constant awful noise that kept us from sleeping. The second room on the same floor was quieter. The hotel worked fine for our 3-night stay.

Check-out was a mess and left a poor final impression. We were a big group, but there was only one person at reception, and the receptionist didn’t speak English. The rooms were spacious, and both breakfast and dinner were good.
