Hotel Casa Branca

It’s in a convenient spot and has parking, but the facilities were disappointing. Our room was cramped, and although it had air conditioning, there was no ventilation and quite a lot of mold.

The room was the biggest problem. Ours was meant for three people but was basically a 5x5 square. The floor slopes so water from the bathroom runs into the room, and there’s no bathroom door or even a towel to stop it. I kept slipping. There was no TV or table, the bed was uncomfortable, and the sheet was child-sized. Breakfast was one bread roll per guest, with only cheese and ham, plus coffee and milk. Construction noise started right outside our room at 07:00, with no warning to guests. As I write this, it’s still absurdly loud. When we arrived, there wasn’t even an attendant to help us. After a long wait, someone came, but she didn’t know the area well enough to suggest somewhere to eat, go out, or find an event. This place feels more like a forgotten roadside motel, with a customer every 10 years when a car breaks down. I’m giving it one star, though it should be possible to give none.

There was no soap, no breakfast, and no TV. The air conditioning was there but didn’t work. When it was time to leave, nobody was at reception. The bed had a noisy, reused spring mattress that made it feel like it might fall apart, and there was nowhere to put my things, so I had to use an old chair or the floor. The service was awful. I can’t recommend this place. It needs a lot of improvement before it deserves to be called a hotel. Horrible.

The staff were lovely, really friendly and helpful, and there was even complimentary coffee. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. I didn’t need a fan or air conditioning because the city’s temperature is so pleasant. It’s a simple but nice place, close to several businesses and the flower clock, and good value for money. I enjoyed my stay, especially for a quick stop or if you don’t want to spend much.
