The restaurant and wine production are real finds in Gonçalves. The food is thoughtfully prepared with fresh local Minas ingredients, and they cater well to vegetarians too. Whenever I'm in Gonçalves, I make a point of returning to the restaurant. I highly recommend it. I stayed at the pousada recently and have nothing but praise for the warm atmosphere, attentive service, and lovely scenery. The individual chalets have a rustic feel while still being comfortable, a nice fit if you're looking to unwind in nature.

We've known BICHO DO MATO for 26 years, and it was such a pleasure to spend three lovely days in this distinctive, welcoming place. Wonderful nature and good food. Congratulations to dear Bel, Chef Victor, and the whole Pousada team, especially Laura.

A guided tasting at the winery, led by Natália, was really interesting and enjoyable. This is a lovely, fairly small pousada, with a spectacular breakfast and an excellent restaurant. The approach road is dirt for 7km.

The breakfast was exceptional, such a treat, and the restaurant is very good, especially with winery Artesã right there at the hotel. It's a beautiful place. The only thing that could use more upkeep is the access road, 7km of dirt.
