Sítio Pindorama

A very disappointing stay. The place didn't match the photos or description. It was poorly maintained and seemed abandoned, with everything old and no care taken. There weren't enough bath towels or sheets, and kitchen supplies were missing too. Some cutlery and dishes were available, but there was no microwave, TV, or water filter. The mats were dirty and the sink was rusty. This neglect felt disrespectful to the guests.

We were very happy with the chalet we rented at Sítio Pindorama. It's at an altitude of 1500m and 07 km from the center of Gonçalves. A beautiful, very peaceful place. I recommend it.

The grounds have wonderful potential, with a lake, a stream running through the property, woodland, and lots of trees. The place must once have been beautiful, but it felt abandoned when we visited, even though the grass had been cut. The internal road was in poor shape, and a low vehicle couldn't make it to the chalet. We ended our stay early and went home. There were many basic problems: no bath linens or sheets, no breakfast, no microwave or water jug, old rusty pans, and very little cutlery. There were no teaspoons, coffee spoons, or dessert spoons, and one knife among the others was completely rusty. There were also too few plates and glasses. The bedroom was cold, with glass windows but no shutters or heater, while the fireplace is in the living room. The pillows were old and lumpy, the rugs filthy, and the bathroom in poor condition with a dripping tap. The stove was propped on bricks. The balcony's wooden supports were riddled with holes, cracks, and pests, and seemed at risk of collapsing. The electrical setup was improvised, with makeshift fixes. Behind the chalet, there was a pile of abandoned debris, a broken chair, and shattered roof tiles. With a good investment, the place could attract plenty of bookings because it has interesting features. It would need a staffed reception room, a breakfast room, and a shared lounge with a fireplace and TV if chalets don't get TVs. Other possibilities would be a chapel, playground, dollhouse, tree cabin, elevated trail between trees, and outdoor exercise equipment. Otherwise, if you want comfort, this isn't the best place.

This is a chalet rental, not a hotel, so hotel conveniences aren't included: breakfast, bed and bath linens, or room service. We were also charged separately for cleaning. We rented the two story house with a wood burning stove in the kitchen, a wood heater in the living room, and two suites. The downstairs suite where we stayed smelled musty, and the bathroom window had no curtain. It's 7 km from town, along a dirt road, but we had no trouble getting there. The setting is very beautiful, with Araucárias all around and a stream nearby. Being so close to nature gives it a rustic feel, and brings insects and their predators along with it. There isn't a reception desk, but communication with our host, Paulo, was always quick and efficient by WhatsApp or email. I'd recommend it to people who are laid back and enjoy peace and being close to nature.
