The shower barely got warm, even after running for quite a while, and water pooled in the shower stall because the floor didn’t slope properly toward the drain. The pool area also wasn’t inviting, with lots of mold on the walls and a clearly visible amount of slime in the water. There were some good points: the inn is in a beautiful area with a lovely view, the staff were excellent, and breakfast was very tasty. But our chalet needed more care, attention to detail, and maintenance. There was mold in several spots in both the bathroom and the hot tub area, spiderwebs in the corners, and dead insects crushed against the walls and left there. The pillows were very hard, and we found some dirt on the pillowcases too. Maybe rustic has been mistaken for neglected. Those problems made this a disappointing stay. I’m not writing to start a dispute, but to flag things that could be improved. The place has a lot of potential, though it needs an owner who pays attention and is willing to act.

The chalet was just right, and the whole place was clean, organized, and well set up. I did have an unexpected spider visit, but that was my own fault for leaving the door open. The team cleaned the room and treated it again the same day. You’re surrounded by nature, so a few unwelcome visitors are normal. If that bothers you, an urban stay may suit you better, but the quiet countryside is lovely if you enjoy it. I came to Reserva da Colina hoping to switch off somewhere peaceful, and felt welcomed from the start. I was traveling alone and a little uneasy at first, but everyone made me feel at ease. Jorge greeted me at reception and was kind, attentive, and very respectful. Jaque and Lise, who handle the organization and food, were wonderful and treated me like an old friend. Breakfast was a delicious, generous colonial-style spread. I have nothing but good things to say, and I’d happily come back.

Breakfast was good, and inside, chalet 3 was clean and everything worked. The outside needs maintenance, though. The reception building was a real letdown, with broken glass, windows, and armchairs, plus a lot of dirt. The advertising didn’t match what we found. We stayed one night, and I’m glad it was only one. Would I return? No.

The food at dinner was delicious, though there weren’t many choices. We waited until evening to eat because the restaurant only operated at night, and we couldn’t order delivery through any app because of the location. It’s very isolated and steep, so having your own car is best. Uber drivers often wouldn’t accept, and not every taxi would go there. If you don’t have a car and aren’t used to driving in the mountains, it may not be a good fit. Still, the view is beautiful, service was great, and breakfast was wonderful. It’s a very good place to get away and clear your head.

The outdoor areas are spacious and beautiful. We walked around the property and really enjoyed it. Our room was clean, organized, and roomy for two, and we liked it a lot. Breakfast was wonderful, with plenty of fruit, bread, and cold cuts. The one thing I’d single out is the game room, which wasn’t very appealing and could have been cleaner and tidier. Otherwise, I’d definitely return. I don’t know what people expect from an inn out in the woods. There are insects and animals that live there. We arrived at night and saw a frog and a small spider as soon as we entered the room, but nothing that seemed worth complaining about. We were welcomed warmly from the moment we arrived. We stayed in room 1, where the bathtub was great and heated in about 30 minutes. The fireplace worked perfectly, and the inn provided the firewood. They also offer pizza and a cold cuts platter for around 70 reais, since delivery doesn’t reach this rural area. It’s about 10 minutes from the urban area of gramado, with a short stretch of unpaved road. It was very peaceful. We went early in the week when there were fewer guests, so we had no noise from other rooms.
