Hanna Pórtico Hotel - Gramado

The staff at the desk and in the kitchen were very helpful, and it was clear they were trying almost impossibly hard to make the “hotel” look good. But I had a terrible stay. This was our first trip to Gramado, with my parents, my pregnant wife, and our one-year-old. The photos made everything look lovely and organized. We arrived around 11 pm and I had to switch rooms twice; my parents changed rooms three times. Every room I entered smelled strongly of mold. The ground-floor room walls were badly moldy, and the bathrooms had a foul smell, probably coming from the drains. The bathroom tile grout was black with mold, and I’m not exaggerating. By the second night I had to buy medicine and allergy medication for my child and wife, and my father also had to spend money on medicine. Water leaked from under the shower enclosure across the bathroom. The sink countertop was glued on with silicone, and both the hot and cold water hoses under it were rusty. The curtains touched the moldy walls, which made me even more worried. Parking in the lot next door cost a lot, and the car was left out in the sun and rain. I couldn’t switch hotels. I don’t usually complain without a reason, and often let things go, but the hotel needs to address this. I’d seen some reviews before traveling and thought they were exaggerated. Once there, I found that they still didn’t describe how bad the place was. I left for the trip with my happy, healthy son and came home with him sick and spending money on medicine.

I expected old-fashioned rooms, but AP214 turned out quite different. The air conditioner was a little noisy, though it didn’t disturb my sleep. The location is great, right beside the gateway. Breakfast was good, but there weren’t many choices and it didn’t vary much over the week. I really liked the staff.

We stayed for seven days and I deeply regret it. The service was awful, the employees seemed grumpy, and the cleaning was terrible. We asked twice for the room to be cleaned and nobody came. The third time, they only took out the trash and replaced the towels. The shower never got hot, and the air conditioner didn’t work. Our room was near the kitchen, so at 5 am we woke to staff making a huge racket while preparing breakfast, with no consideration for people trying to sleep. I don’t recommend it. I fell for the idea that the view would be lovely because it’s beside the famous gateway, and it was nothing but disappointment.

The room was cold and run down, with peeling walls and signs of poor maintenance. The bedding was dirty, torn, and smelled bad. Service was poor too: the receptionists seemed unwilling to help, there was no proper welcome, and nobody offered to help with our bags. A terrible experience. I can’t recommend this hotel.
