Hotel Laghetto Stilo Borges

The constant pitches for Laghetto hotels and time sharing took half my morning, and honestly felt dishonest. The chain is all over the region and partners with RCI, a time share company. Employees are everywhere, stopping you to offer “gifts” if you visit their hotels for a 15 to 20 minutes tour. I made the mistake of accepting, and ended up at a realtor office for a 60 minutes presentation about joining a time sharing program. It didn’t stop there: at a chocolate store, a seller asked me to visit Laghetto’s new property with her. Later, in the middle of taking pictures at the Christmas Village, the photographer made the same pitch. It was extremely annoying and will definitely make me reconsider visiting any of their hotels in the future. The hotel itself is in a fantastic spot, at the corner of Av. das Hortencias and Av. Senador Salgado Filho, in the heart of downtown. It offers all amenities and has excellent service.

Our room was roomy and very clean, and the hotel itself looked beautiful. The staff were warm and helpful. A maintenance worker also fixed our sticking door promptly and did a great job. There were a few hassles. For two days we had to request hand towels, after housekeeping said they were out and promised to bring some later. They never arrived, so we called the front desk in the evening instead. The shower was cold only on our first night; hot water was fine for the remaining three days. Also, the little shower shelf was so loose that anything placed on it slid to the floor.

The location is fantastic, with good places to eat nearby, and the staff were very polite and helpful. We had a nice stay, especially after the staff sorted out the issues. I had booked a superior deluxe room just for my wife and me, but we were given one king bed and one single bed. I hadn't asked for the single, and it wasn't nice to see it there. The room could use maintenance too: the shower screws were rusty and there were marks on the walls, as if something had hit them.

The breakfast was a highlight, with a full hot buffet, cold cuts, eggs, four kinds of fruit, jellies, several breads and cakes, plus more. The location, breakfast, and friendly staff are what stood out on our first visit to Gramado, and I'd happily stay again when I can return. This felt like a high-end hotel, with bellmen, valet parking, room service, and other services. The beds were comfortable and the showers were wonderful. It's right on the main street, though the entrance is off it, which made it easy to pull up for valet service. Our room had a long bed and a twin, which worked well for three people. The view was just the hotel's next building, so we could barely see anything without leaning far to the side. I hadn't booked a room with a view and had used points, so I got what I got.
