Pousada do Sol

The owners were so attentive, and we became friends with them, which makes this a little hard to judge. The inn is cozy, but some things really need attention. I stayed in room 10: the shower was dripping all night, though it was very good to use. The TV didn't get any channels. The pool was always clean, but there was no ladder to climb out. The air conditioning worked very well and could be controlled with the remote. The mattress was unfortunately awful, soft and sinking toward the middle. I also thought the notice on the single bed saying there'd be an extra charge if it was used was ridiculous. Breakfast was very basic, with little abundance. I understand it's hard to offer a bigger spread outside peak season, but it was still sparse. It was the cheapest inn we found with a pool. The location is great if you want to stay in Meaipe, though it's 9 km from Guarapari. I stayed twice for five days each, once on the way to Porto Seguro and again on the way back to São Paulo. I'd recommend the place, but the owners should put a little more care into it. It has everything needed to be an excellent inn.

The common area was fine, the caretaker at reception was okay, and it's close to the beach. The price is low, though I thought it was expensive for what you get. The room itself is basic and might suit you if that's what you're after, but the stairs to the rooms seem loose at the sides. The spring mattress was awful for anyone with back problems, the bathroom stall made noise, and everything felt old and poorly maintained. Breakfast was simple and the juice came from a packet. The TV isn't smart and its HDMI didn't work. To turn the air conditioning on or off by hand, you have to climb onto the bed. I wouldn't come back.

The shower kept dripping, and the place felt very neglected, with old dishes making the breakfast table look shabby. They don't change the bed linens, don't clean the room daily, and I had to take out the trash myself before anyone realized it needed collecting. Even though there's a menu, the minibar didn't have any water for sale. Breakfast was extremely poor and seemed prepared with no care or attention. We paid extra to have breakfast at another hotel because this one just wasn't acceptable. On the last day, they offered scrambled eggs to relatives who were staying there, but none to us as guests. They need to invest in the place and bring it up to date for their guests' comfort.

The pool was dirty, the room smelled strongly of mold, and breakfast included stale bread and ham that was going slimy. It felt like there was no care for the guests. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Cheap can end up costing you more.
