Pousada Tagomago

The view and rooms are nice, and breakfast was okay, with breads and fruit. The girl and guy at reception were super nice, and the staff were friendly and eager to help. Wi-Fi didn’t always work, but the generator was useful when the island’s power went out. Access can be difficult for older people or those with disabilities. The owners live in the building and were extremely loud. I complained, but it happened again the next day, with shouting from the room next door that made it hard to relax or enjoy the evening. The pousada is foreign-owned, just stating a fact.

The rooms were great, the beds comfortable, and breakfast lovely. It’s quite far from the center, which was exactly what we wanted, but still an easy 15-minute walk into town. A really amazing Pousada. Highly recommend, and I’ll come back.

The breakfast was my favorite part, with lots of tasty, nourishing choices. The rooms get cleaned every day, and the drinks in the fridge are fairly priced. There’s also a lovely balcony facing the beach. It’s a small, comfortable B&B with a simple, foresty feel even though it’s right by the shore. I think it’s among the island’s pricier places to stay, but I felt it was worth the cost. The owner speaks fluent English and knows a lot about the island. Hugo is a hardworking, genuinely good young man, and everyone was really nice and respectful. Bring bug spray. There’s a net over the bed, but Ilha Grande has plenty of mosquitoes.

The staff were really friendly, and the breakfast was the best we had. They also give clear directions for getting there. The location is on the nicer stretch of beach, near some of the better beach restaurants and away from town. One caveat: room 1 is advertised as having a sea view, but the view is quite restricted. I think it should probably cost less than the other rooms.
