Pousada do Sidão

The place is lovely, especially outside, where we enjoyed the stars and little wildlife like frogs and geckos. We had a fantastic experience from the start, and I hope to come back. I have no complaints. The room was clean and had a TV and minibar. There’s a heated pool outside, and we even used it in the middle of the night without any trouble. The host doesn’t greet guests in person, but getting in was easy with the information from Booking. Joana and her dog Hércules make breakfast, which was generous and really tasty.

It’s a peaceful spot for anyone who really wants to rest. The breakfast is simple, just right, and there’s plenty of it. The room was tidied and cleaned every day, impeccably, by the lovely Joana. We loved staying here and will definitely return. We’ve already recommended it to several friends. The pousada doesn’t have its own parking, like many places in Ilha Bela, but we left our car out front and had no problems. Owner Sidão was friendly and attentive. Joana was incredible too, organized, responsible, attentive, and clean, and she gave us several tips for outings that were all wonderful.

I can’t recommend this place. It has the potential to be very nice, and Iris prepares a really good breakfast with care, but sharing intimate stories about other guests is not appropriate. We heard four very personal stories about couples from her. One couple’s argument made it hard for us to rest, and we had to ask the owner to step in. He should have done so without needing us to ask, and asked the couple to leave, since they were disturbing the other five guests. There’s no soundproofing at all. We could clearly hear the other couples talking, even in the middle of the night, which was very unpleasant. The room smelled strongly, and when we turned on the air conditioner, a clump of dust came out and made the smell worse. The walls were moldy, so we couldn’t use the air conditioner. The bathroom was very cramped and smelled horribly of sewage; the sink was clogged, and when we mentioned it, they said they knew because of whoever did the plumbing. There seems to be no maintenance, and there was visible dirt, lots of dog hair, and human hair in the common area. There’s no garage, so you have to leave the car on the street.
