Pousada Ilhote da Prainha

Fantastic.

The location was the best part for me. It’s near Praia do Julião, not far from the ferry, and the area is quieter. Our upper-floor room had a great view, with a glimpse of the sea, and it was clean, roomy, and air-conditioned. The breakfast was modest but had some good choices. Staff were helpful and flexible about arrival times. On our last visit, we got in at 10 pm.

The setting is lovely, with birds to hear and spot each morning thanks to the jungle nearby. There are two beaches within easy reach, one peaceful and quiet, the other with music and restaurants. The hotel is beautifully kept, clean throughout, and the pool gets cleaned every day. Breakfast comes with a stunning ocean view, and the staff are attentive and keen to help. Special thanks to Josh at reception, the only person who speaks English. Without him, sorting out various issues would have been much harder. The jungle-side location also means the room stays humid. You can notice it in the furniture and curtains, and in the room's smell. We had to leave the air conditioning on almost all the time to reduce the humidity. I wonder if keeping it on constantly is harmful. There are also big gaps around the windows and doors, so mosquitoes and other insects get in. And even with the windows shut, you can hear everything outside almost as clearly as if they were open.

I stayed from 26.04 to 29.04 and loved it. The receptionists were attentive, my room was wonderful and clean, and they changed the towels. The view was beautiful, right in front of one of the island's best beaches, and my favorite. Breakfast was wonderful, with lots of choices. I'll definitely be back.
