Pousada Gopak

The town was a nice bonus, and we loved the inn’s decor and style. We’d planned on two nights but added two more. They brought a breakfast basket each day with a bit of everything, and it was all delicious. Our room also had a full kitchen, which made the place even better. Just be ready for lots of uphill and downhill walking, both around the inn and outside it, since the area is hilly and the slopes are steep.

The friendly service from Carla and her faithful friend Ozzy added to the stay. The pousada is close to the little center of Rosa, so you can get around on foot. Its architecture sometimes feels Mediterranean, with plenty of references to visual arts, Buddhism, Frida Kahlo, and more. There’s a trail over the hill to Praia do Rosa, about 400 meters away, but it’s quite steep. The view from the top makes it worthwhile. Breakfast is simple but VERY generous. We couldn’t finish it and asked them to bring less on the following days. There’s a pool and a yoga space, with an instructor and extra charges. The price is quite inviting for Rosa, and the easygoing, rustic simplicity fits the spirit of the place. There’s a lovely green area and lots of wood. I’d say it’s ideal for a group of friends wanting to enjoy the beach and sun.

We only stayed at Gopak for a day, but it was a lovely visit. The inn is quiet and surrounded by nature, with birds singing all the time, even though it's close to the center of Rosa. There's a pool and a nice spot for sunbathing, plus a pretty garden and even a yoga room. Our room was airy, clean, and full of natural light. The kitchen had all the utensils we needed to make a meal, and the included breakfast was fantastic, delivered right to our door. Even in a short stay, Gopak made our time at Praia do Rosa feel extra special.

The breakfast comes in picnic baskets straight to your room, but only at 8 or 9, so if you have dietary restrictions, it's worth checking before you book whether they can accommodate you. Housekeeping has to be requested and runs on a set schedule. The inn's architecture is simple and really beautiful, and the location is excellent. Any time you send a question or request, they get back to you quickly and thoughtfully.
