I booked the family room for five people from 02-08-15 to 08-18-15 and spoke directly with the owner, François. He praised the place, said getting to the center was easy, and talked up amenities like the game room. He required a 50% deposit. When we arrived, the access was awful. It was far from the center, poorly signposted, and the street was dark, deserted, full of holes and mud. Walking nearby, especially at night, wasn't possible. Luckily we had our own car. The owner wasn't there to meet us as arranged. He'd been surfing shortly before and didn't know where he'd put the reservation paper. The pool was dirty and green, unlike the website photo. The ping-pong table was too damaged to use, and the pool table didn't have adequate lighting. The family room was untidy, the TV didn't work, and the bathroom smelled terrible, with feces in the toilet. We left right away. The double and triple rooms smelled strongly of mold too, and getting to them meant going through mud and mosquitoes. We couldn't stay there, so we tried to negotiate for at least half our deposit back. Instead, the owner pressured us to pay the rest of the agreed amount. Because he wouldn't budge, we left and lost 700,00, then looked for another pousada. We were on vacation and didn't want stress on the first day. I still want to record what I saw as a lack of ethics and professionalism from the owner of Casa Verde Itacare Surf Camp.
