Pousada Terral Surf

It’s right on the beach, with the rustic feel that suits a place by the sea. I love the vibe and the good service, so this is my favorite place in Itacaré and I keep coming back. I really appreciate it.

We came here for New Year’s Eve 2024/25 after arriving in Itacaré unexpectedly during a trip. On the waterfront, a man named Carlos introduced himself as the owner of Pousada Terral Beach and kindly showed us around, so we booked two nights. Praia do Rezende is beautiful and the inn is right on the sand, but the rooms and bathrooms disappointed us: there were cockroaches and mold, and no room service. We stayed because of the beach, paid for the nights, and then prepaid four more at R$300 each. There were two couples with children, and the total came to R$2,840. About 10 minutes after we paid, the owner’s attitude changed completely. He became rude to us and the children, nothing like the person we’d first met. When a foreign couple arrived, he blocked us from using the kitchen and the ground floor, leaving us only the worst areas of the property. At one point he even called us “farofeiros,” and kept making clear he didn’t want us there. After a series of insults, we felt so humiliated that we asked for our money back and decided to leave. He refused, then said in an intimidating tone that he’d refund us by Pix the next day. Two and a half months later, I’ve managed to get only R$500 back. It was a huge loss and ruined our dream and our vacation. I don’t recommend this place to anyone!

I wouldn’t recommend staying at this inn. The owner told me there had been an overbooking and put me in a room in a nearby house. That room was better than the inn, but she wanted payment immediately, at the same rate as on Booking. It had no air conditioning and lots of mosquitoes. The facilities are also in poor shape. After one night, I looked for another inn. The only good thing was the beach view.
