Pousada La Brisa

The best part of the stay was the service. Katy at reception was proactive, helpful, and careful, and she made things much better. Without her professionalism, I think the hotel's rating would lose at least a full star. The property looks quite new, but several things need attention: around six of the eight corridor lights were out, and there was no bidet shower in the bathroom. My room, 107, had no internet at all, so I used about 30 GB of 4G. Rooms nearer the start of the corridor seem to get a better signal. I also missed having a microwave, since theirs was broken. Breakfast was decent, but the dining area at La Brisa hadn't opened yet. You had to cross a muddy street to eat elsewhere and park the car, which would be unpleasant in rain or 38-degree Rio heat.

The rooms were reasonable and the service was good, but breakfast was very basic. Food was set out by table, and when the hotel was a little busy there weren't enough plates or seats. There's no minibar in the rooms, and sometimes the front entrance is locked with nobody there to let you in, leaving you stuck outside. The gate to the breakfast area is also kept locked, so you have to wait for an employee to let you in or out.

The room was clean and the staff were kind, but I had the worst stay I've ever had in Brazil and won't come back. I couldn't get anyone to answer the contact phone, and sometimes there was nobody around to open the gate. The corridor smelled of cigarettes. Rain flooded the bathroom, and the balcony door's key was broken in the lock, which left me feeling unsafe. Management hadn't checked it, and the employees didn't know about the broken key. Opening the garage gate took ages because it was at another location. Breakfast wasn't much to expect from this inn.

On May 10, 2023, my husband and I were riding our motorcycles toward São Paulo when rain soaked us and we stopped at this hotel. An employee said there were no rooms there and sent us on foot to a place owned by the same person, where we could stay. There was no garage at that property. It had a nice breakfast area, but breakfast wasn't served there; we had to go to the hotel on the same street. The photos were misleading, and in the rain we had to leave the place to eat while our vehicle had nowhere to stay. We paid 230.00 for a room with the worst-quality toilet paper and a bathroom with a collapsing ceiling that was completely flooded. It was neglectful, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
