Pousada O Forte

The rooms have good equipment for such a remote eco resort, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. There are several amenities and activities on offer, and the Pousada is a great base for an excursion to Mangue Seco.

A lovely place.

The outdoor area is lovely, with a delightful stretch of beach where the Rio Real meets the sea. Staff are very kind and the service is excellent. The rooms are good, though I think a few things could use improvement, like the shower and the bed linen. Nothing that spoils a good stay, though. Mangue Seco is a simple village with difficult access but lots of natural beauty, so don't expect luxury. This is the best pousada there, and it has a good restaurant open to the public until 21h00. They can recommend a boatman, Washington, to pick you up in Povoado Pontal, Estância, on the Sergipe side of the Rio Real, and bring you to the Pousada. They also put guests in touch with people offering trips by buggy, quad bike, or speedboat. You can walk to the village in 15 minutes over the dunes, or in 5 minutes along the river at low tide. The beach is a 40-minute walk away. I recommend it!

I was really charmed by how attentive the staff were. The place is peaceful and away from the party scene, just right if you want to unwind. There are other ways to spend your time there too.
