Pousada Coqueiro Verde

Excellent.

The place itself gets a 10, and the pousada is pretty, but the management is terrible. The cleaning needs a lot of work. When we arrived, they only told us the breakfast hours and said towels would be changed every two days. During our seven-day stay, the room was never cleaned, and we had to go to reception to get towels. The pool water was cloudy and it wasn't being cleaned. I didn't use it, and they only cleaned the pool on my last day. The snack bar closes at 5 p.m. At 5:30, I went to order a portion. The attendant gave me the prices, but just as I was about to order, she said it was closed. I found that absurd. For the price of this pousada, there are places that are more welcoming and comfortable.

The best thing about the inn is its location. Rosiane, the manager, was attentive and available, and the reception staff were helpful too. But the rest of the stay was awful. We booked the entire place nine months ahead for our company gathering so only our group would be staying there. We even asked about canceling one room, but kept it when they said it would be made available. Then, over our four days, some friends of the owners used the pool. On the last day, one particularly unpleasant, intrusive friend argued with several people in our group. When we complained, the hotel’s answer was that they were friends of the owners. The inn is basic, which would have been fine if things were maintained. The showers were terrible, barely usable for washing hair, and gave electric shocks. The toilet was clogged, the air conditioner dripped all night, the door key jammed every day, and the towels felt like sandpaper. Cleaning was poor, and the drain smelled of sewage. Apart from Elma, the women in the kitchen all seemed unhappy to be there, like they were doing us a favor. I wouldn’t come back or recommend it to anyone. A terrible experience.

We ended up canceling our stay and moving to another inn. The location is great, right downtown and across from the beach, but the place is in awful shape, with old rooms, linens, towels and bathrooms that all need attention. Forget the 180-thread-count sheets mentioned on the website. The shower had exposed wiring and gave electric shocks, and the staff were very unhelpful. The air conditioner in our room didn’t work, so they moved us to a very old room with a filthy minibar, then offered another dirty room. When we spoke to the receptionist, he was rude and told us to stay in the old, dirty room and wait for housekeeping the next day. He even said that if it looked dirty to us, there was nothing he could do because it looked clean to him.
