Icon Hotel by Welkom

The restaurant food was some of the best I've had in Brazil, especially the chicken parmigiana. The hotel is also great value for money, in a quiet part of Cabo Branco that's ideal for relaxing. It's new, so the rooms, amenities, and other furnishings are clean and in good shape. The rooftop pool has a great view and is a nice place to relax with a beer. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and even though I don't speak Portuguese, staying here was a pleasure.

My wife and I stayed in the Deluxe Suite with Hot Tub at Icon from 09 to 14/02/2026 with our 6-month-old baby. I'm Diego. The Booking listing promised a “private pool,” but it wasn't private at all. The tiny pool, about 1.5 × 1.5 m, faces the shared deck, where other guests can see everything and make a point of watching. My wife felt embarrassed bathing with our baby in that supposedly private area. The listing also promised a “hot tub,” which simply doesn't exist. It's actually the same “private pool,” and its whirlpool function was out of order for a whole day until we asked for maintenance. The room is cramped. You almost have to walk sideways to get between the bed and counter. Cleaning was also incomplete: they cleaned the room, but left the outdoor area by the pool dirty until we asked them to clean it. The hotel's restaurant only has breakfast going for it. At lunch, even though the dining room was nearly empty, they wouldn't let us sit at a table with a beach view, saying the “large tables” were only for bigger groups. We ordered octopus, fish with vegetables, and meat risotto. None were good: the octopus was overcooked, the vegetables were almost raw, and the risotto was hard and bland. After that first meal, we never had lunch there again. The hotel faces the beach, but it's at a quiet end where the sea is dirtier, and it can't really be considered “right on the sand.” To enjoy the beach, you need to go by car or Uber. The staff were polite and breakfast was good. Everything else I mentioned was a negative. I do NOT recommend it. I expected much more, especially given the promise of “privacy” and the suite category. Terrible value for money.

The staff are friendly, and the hotel is okay overall, but the rooms are small and it's out on the edge of town. The air conditioning runs on a motion sensor, so it turns off if you step out for a moment. The rooftop bar shuts at 6:00 PM, and drinks are brought up from the ground floor, which makes little sense. At breakfast, you have to go up to the waiter to get served, and extras took a very long time. I wouldn't book here again.
