Val Atlantic Hotel

The location is great, right in front of the beach, and there's free underground parking. That's about where the good points end. I stayed here in 2022 and remember a simple but comfortable hotel, so I came back on this trip and was very disappointed. The pillowcases were stained. I asked for extra ones to cover the existing cases so I could at least know they were clean, but those were old and stained too. The minibar was dirty, smelly, and disgusting, and impossible to use. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, only shampoo in the shower. I couldn't sleep well worrying about how dirty the room was. Breakfast was simple but sufficient. There aren't many places to eat nearby, so I ordered dinner through iFood on the first night. Most of the guests seemed to be tradespeople and workers. Nobody came by to service the room or collect my iFood waste, so I had to take it to a staff member myself. After I complained about the minibar, I decided I couldn't stay and checked out after two nights, giving up the other two prepaid nights to move to a much nicer hotel. I calmly explained this to reception. They said the booking was non-refundable, but offered a room change, though I imagine all the rooms are dirty, or a credit note. Why would I ever come back? Someone I assumed was the manager stayed out of sight in the office. He only told the receptionist what to say and never spoke to me himself. In other words, they weren't prepared to do anything. Their attitude was disgusting, just like the minibar. If you want to stay in Cabo Branco, the Icon hotel next door looks much nicer, and there's an Ibis beside that. Nicer, cleaner hotels exist, probably with better customer service too. Don't waste your money at the Val.
