Hotel Nacional Coral

The hotel restaurant is right next door, and the food there was delicious for a fair price. At the hotel, I had a comfortable, clean room, a good breakfast, and a price that felt reasonable. The location is convenient too, with a pharmacy and market beside it.

They welcomed me warmly and helped me out when I ran into a difficulty. Breakfast had lots of choices and was served over a generous time window. I'd recommend it.

We booked one kind of room, but were pleasantly surprised when they offered us an extra bed, since it would be more comfortable than having our two children share. The room was clean, the bedding was clean and nicely fresh, and both the Wi-Fi and TV worked. I did miss having a full-length mirror, though 😄. The hotel is simple but works well, and we really recommend it. It's centrally located beside a large market, with pharmacies and building supply stores nearby. Breakfast was amazing, with bread, cakes, savory tarts, pastries, cheese breads, two yogurt flavors, juices, coffee, milk, cereal, granola, fruit, and even banoffee first thing in the morning 🤌🫶.

I was so disappointed by the way this was handled. On my first night at Hotel Coral, the service was very good. I paid R$170 for a great, spacious room with air conditioning, and everything worked. I was happy enough to book another four days. When I made that booking, they said the same room wouldn't be available, but offered another one that was supposedly identical, just without air conditioning. Since I hadn't even used the AC, I agreed. When I came back that evening, though, they put me in a completely different room. It was small and uncomfortable, with a bad shower and no shampoo or hair dryer, nothing like the room I'd had before. I complained, and the attendant changed the key, but the next room was the same poor standard, just with a different door number. I asked for a room like the one from the previous day. They said one was available, but it now cost R$260, or R$250 if paid in cash. That was a huge increase for the same room. Tired of all the switching, I accepted the inferior room for R$130. Just as I was getting into the shower, the receptionist called to say he'd made a mistake and the price was actually R$190. I gave up and left, extremely unhappy. I found another hotel, Rodeio, with a much better room, including air conditioning, a hair dryer, a minibar, and covered parking, all for R$130. That felt much fairer and more professional. I'd even recommended Hotel Coral to colleagues in town for a sports event, but after what happened, they all canceled their bookings. I don't recommend it, and I won't return. The prices changed without warning, promises weren't kept, and I felt they showed no consideration for the customer.
