Pousada do Grande Lago

We drove 250 km for an event in town after booking a room. On the way, I noticed check-in ended at 9:30 pm, so I messaged to say we might be a little late and asked if that would be a problem. They said they couldn't wait. We didn't cancel because we still had time to try to make it, and cancellation would cost R$250. Traffic moved along and we got there at 8:40 pm, but there was no room for us. They'd rented it to someone else, even though we'd reserved through Booking. We ended up driving back to São Paulo, missing the event and covering 500 km for nothing. They seemed completely unprepared and unconcerned about their guests, as if all they cared about was a quick buck. They should be ashamed of handling things this way and learn how to do their job.

The room was very clean and breakfast was a 10, but a few things could use maintenance. The shower was weak, the soap holder in the shower was coming loose, and there was mold in the grout. We also could've used a table and chairs in the room, and there weren't many outlets.

The inn itself is very nice, but the extra R$70 cleaning charge for the barbecue area caught me off guard. I asked when booking whether we could use it and was told yes, but nobody mentioned the fee in advance. The area wasn't especially clean, had only a few small plates, and no utensils, which made the cleaning charge feel unfair. I think this should be included in the inn's package since it's part of the facilities offered to guests. That's why I gave it three stars.

We had a good-priced stay over Christmas 2025, me, my wife, and our two kids. It's a handy place to get to from the capital, just a few hours away, and the inn offers good value. The breakfast was delicious and filling, with a roomy dining area and a lovely view. The pool has plenty of space, including for small children, though it could be cleaner. Staff service was generally good and they delivered what was promised, but I found the employees a little short on courtesy. The room we had downstairs disappointed me. I think those may be the only rooms without air conditioning, and during our four days and three nights, housekeeping didn't clean under the beds or replace the towels. I've never had that happen before. There was a minibar and a hammock by the door, though. Parking felt a bit tight, but we had no trouble finding a space. I also really liked the kayaks for time on the lake, and the bikes, there were six or seven of them.
