Hotel do Largo

The bed bugs made this one of the worst hotel stays I've had. After lying down for a while, I woke with dozens of bites on my back, then spotted several BED BUGS crawling on the pillow and bed. When I called staff, they didn't apologize or even acknowledge the problem. Their response felt very unprofessional and uncaring. The rooms were neglected too. In my first room, the shower area was revolting, with mould all over the walls and a dirty bathroom mirror. I asked to change rooms, but the next shower wasn't much better. At least its showerhead wasn't mouldy, though the walls still were. The property is in terrible shape, and the lack of cleanliness and professionalism was completely unacceptable.

At 2am, we asked to move to another hotel, but the front desk was unaccommodating and didn't seem to grasp how serious the problem was. This wasn't a language issue, since we spoke Portuguese. We'd checked in as three friends, left our bags, and gone to dinner. Later, I went to bed before the other two and woke up itching. When we turned on all the lights, we saw a huge infestation of BED BUGS in the linen seams on all three beds. I left with 40 swollen bites all over my body. It was the worst hotel experience of my life. The place is poorly managed and unsanitary, so think twice before booking.

The location was excellent, around the corner from the theatre, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the area felt safe even at night. George at reception spoke fluent English and was excellent, especially with arranging tours. The room was ok, and so was breakfast.

The restaurant was the worst part for me. I could barely breathe in there. The rest of the hotel was in really bad shape too, with a strong room smell and old, even broken, facilities. Everything fell below what I'd expect from a three-star hotel.
