The pools connect into one another, and there’s also a gym and a play area for kids. I liked the roomy apartments, with a table for two, a fridge, microwave, and balcony. With a sea view, you can see the marina and Itacaruça island, and the views are breathtaking. Itacaruça beach is only 500m away, though the hotel is an hour from Rio airport, so it works well if you want to stay near the area. The bar opens onto reception, then leads to the restaurant, which has a buffet on some nights. Staff were great throughout. Wi-Fi can get slow when it’s busy, and stops working in heavy rain. Tip: ask for a sea view.

There isn’t much to do around the city, but I had a good experience at the hotel. Breakfast was good, Brazilian style, though the restaurant is a bit expensive. I’d recommend staying here.

The rooms were in bad condition, and the staff were unfriendly. They didn’t seem happy to be working. Even McDonald’s does breakfast better.
