The staff were polite and professional, but Amarantes was disappointing for the price. I've stayed at luxury and all-inclusive resorts around the world as a 78-year-old international lawyer, and this one doesn't justify what it costs. Getting around is difficult because the resort is spread out, there are long walks, and there's no internal transport. That could be hard for older guests and families. The main buffet was crowded and mediocre, with little variety, tilapia as the only fish, and poor-quality meat. The grill and Italian restaurants were acceptable and good quality, though their menus were limited. There weren't enough pool loungers, and having to get towels only at reception every 2 hours is unacceptable. Bottled water was available only in the rooms, with tap or filtered water elsewhere. The beach is ordinary and not a major attraction, while the children's activities are acceptable but nothing special. The 3.5-hour drive from Recife added to the negative experience. By comparison, I've booked again at Lopesan Punta Cana for USD 366/night. Amarantes is poor value, and I wouldn't return.

We had a great stay. The rooms are very clean, the food is great, and it's close to the beach. There are lots of activities, especially for children. We also spotted some wildlife, including iguanas and monkeys.

Renata at the Italian restaurant deserves a special mention. Her warm welcome, attention to detail, and excellent service made each meal memorable, and she went out of her way to make sure we had what we needed. Thais brought a ton of energy and charisma to the experience, and made our mornings at the swimming pool really fun with her welcoming personality and enthusiasm. The whole staff was amazing. From the service to the food, everything made for a spectacular holiday at this resort in Maragogi. It's just minutes from breathtaking scenery, and the service felt world-class. We can't wait to come back.

I'd definitely recommend this place. The rooms aren't as inviting as what you'd expect from a 3 star hotel in the US, but everything works. And at a place like this, why spend much time in your room anyway?
