We stayed at Cais Dourado in January/2026, my husband, our children aged 10 and 14, and me. We loved it, and it felt well worth the trip. The room was very comfortable, and breakfast had plenty to choose from, including hot and cold coffee and milk, hot and cold water, juices, yogurt, breads, cakes, fruit, granola, eggs, and more. The inn is close to the beach, the beautiful natural pools at Taipu de Fora, the jardineira and taxi stop, and a small market. There aren't many nearby dinner spots, and the ones around are quite expensive. Getting there from Ilhéus airport took about three hours over a very rough dirt road. We arrived at 5 pm and paid R$500,00 for transport. For the return trip, we went to Barra Grande instead, about 30 minutes away by taxi for R$100,00, then took a lancha to Camamu for R$60,00 per person, which took around 30 minutes. From there, a taxi to Ilhéus airport cost R$400,00 and took about two hours.

The breakfast was delicious, and the inn itself is great. Sr. Roberto was consistently respectful and answered all my questions. He also suggested some great outings. When I fainted at a local emporium, he helped right away, put me in touch with a doctor, and guided me through the whole process.

The only thing we liked was how close the inn is to the natural pools. The rest left us disappointed. At check-in, the reception was awful: they said we had no reservation because of a mistake with the company Bancorbras. They put us in a room they described as an upgrade, but it was dark and looked very different from the photos. The bathroom was spacious, though the sink was small and rusty. Breakfast had few choices, the juice was warm, and there was no ice for two days. We had to ask for eggs, and our requests didn't seem welcome. On the first day, we asked for the room to be cleaned, but the attendant said it had been cleaned the day before, even though there was sand around and the shower stall was filthy. The owners, Sheila and Sidney, were not friendly at all and seemed as if they were receiving us under obligation. The earlier comments may have been about the previous owners.

The owners, Ana and Roberto, were the best part of the trip. They were so warm and friendly, and I loved the hours we spent talking with them. I first visited in set21 and came back in mai22 with my in-laws. I hope to return soon. The inn also has a good setup: spacious rooms with air conditioning, comfortable beds, a nice bathroom, and quality bed and bath linens. Breakfast includes things they make locally, like cakes and tarts. Its location is a real advantage, as it's one of the closest inns to the natural pools.

A welcoming, peaceful place, and one that left me wanting to come back. We had a mishap and lost our front license plate on the road. D. Ana at the inn printed out the digital police report we'd filed. She also gives guests information about places for lunch or dinner, tours, and quad bike rentals. Breakfast has a good variety, and even if regional food isn't really your thing, there's plenty to enjoy. Everything tasted great.
