Breakfast was generous, with something new or different each morning. The tapioca was fantastic, and I also tried the restaurant’s delicious mashed plantain. Nestor always answers questions on WhatsApp and gives good recommendations, and Luana at reception is a sweetheart. The staff are polite and helpful. I loved the cozy room, its rustic decor, soft lighting, and little balcony with a hammock. There’s greenery and trees all around, and you can hear the birds. The pool is big, the beach is right in front, and the inn also has a restaurant, bar, massage hut, and pool table hut. I fell in love with Lua, the owner’s dog who stays at a house near the inn. It’s a walk to the center, but that distance makes the place even better if you’re after some rest. I’ll definitely be back 🙏🏻

You barely feel like going into town to eat or have a drink, since the inn has everything and the food and drinks are much better than what we found at the center’s restaurants. The service was great, and everyone was so attentive and helpful. It’s a beautiful place, with chalets and a pool that’s warm at night. Set right on the sand beside a lovely, peaceful beach, it’s hard to want to leave. If you go to Barra Grande, you have to visit Kaluana.

The food is excellent, especially the octopus rice. During low season, though, the restaurant closes at 6 pm, which can be a problem if you have kids since there aren’t other options close by. The facilities are good, right by the beach where pools form and make a great spot for children. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the rooms, really a lot, though the beds have nets. I’d suggest bringing a plug-in repellent and some insect spray, because housekeeping always leaves the net open after cleaning, haha.

On our vacation at this beautiful place, my family and I ate at the hotel restaurant a few times. The last visit was awful, from the waiter to the kitchen, a zero. The service was careless. They didn’t pay attention to our order, and my son’s meal never came. Maybe the waiter forgot, I’m not sure. We ordered a filet mignon and asked for it medium when the waiter checked. It came out burnt. We were very hungry, so we ate it anyway. We told them what had gone wrong, but the establishment seemed not to care about providing bad service. Customers need compensation for mistakes, not just an apology. Otherwise they won’t come back, and after a bad experience, what will they tell other people? Please pay closer attention to the service.
