I've never seen anywhere so clean, and it's the best-smelling hotel in Latin America. Huge credit to them for the cleanliness and the incredible service from the guy at reception and the woman who cleans the rooms. I really loved that. Breakfast needs work, though. The boiled cassava, sausages in sauce, and little rolls with cold cuts all seemed like leftovers from the day before, reheated. I felt very sick later that day, and my son vomited a lot. What should have been a day of fun turned into a day getting IV fluids at the hospital in Maceió. I should have gone back to complain, but we were many kilometers away.

La Rue is the main spot in Francês after the beach, and the pousada is right in the middle of it. The shore is close too, less than a five-minute walk to the waterfront. Since La Rue is busy, it can be a little noisy and less peaceful; you can hear some sounds from the room. The pousada itself is well organized, with a simple but tasty breakfast. There was a different flavored cake each day, along with assorted fruit. They also offer complimentary afternoon coffee from 4 to 6 pm, usually with coffee, tea options, biscuits, and slices of plain cake.
