Pousada São Gerônimo

We stayed with my family from December 24 to 28. I booked at the last minute and managed to get a room. It was large and roomy, with a separate toilet and shower area, plus a small kitchen that made it easy to prepare a meal. The reception girls were so attentive and lovely. The inn is close to the beach, with an ice cream shop on the corner and a market nearby, so yes, we'd come back. The breakfast was good, but it ran from 8:30 to 9:30, which felt late if you want to head out early. There was no cheese bread and not much variety during the week. Since it was Christmas, I expected something different, but it wasn't. When juice ran out, they didn't refill it. One day only papaya juice was left, and I was lucky to get a little melon juice, which was almost gone too. The menu changes a bit on Saturday and Sunday, but during the week it stays much the same. A small sign naming the juices would save people from having to ask. Cleaning was the biggest disappointment. Nobody told us at check-in that we had to request room cleaning. I usually leave the key at reception when I go out, expecting the room to be cleaned, but here it works differently. I asked how it was done, then requested a cleaning on Saturday the 27th because there was sand and dirt from the stools rubbing off when you touched them. We returned and the room hadn't been cleaned. The nightly rate was expensive, so it was frustrating to find it that way, though we were leaving Sunday anyway. One woman who organizes breakfast kept coming by every five minutes, which made us feel like she wanted us to leave. I don't think she needed to keep moving things around so often.

We stayed at the inn for four days. The location was good, but several things bothered me. I had booked two months ahead and was charged more than the rate offered to people arriving that day. I only found out while paying, when I heard the receptionist quote a lower price to a couple at the same time. I questioned it right away, and the person in charge refunded the difference, but I'd lost trust. The first room had no windows, and because I have claustrophobia I couldn't sleep in a completely enclosed space. The person in charge moved us to another room. Cleaning was also disappointing. Management said I had to request cleaning and fresh towels, even though I thought that was included in the package. There was no enclosed parking either. For what we paid, which wasn't cheap, the inn needs to set clearer standards for its mission, values, and vision.

Everything was lovely, I'd happily recommend it. We'll definitely be back again 🙏🏻

Whenever I head down to the coast, I stay at PSG. The rooms are really good, the staff are very polite, and breakfast is great!
