Pousada Röhsler

The pet-friendly setup is the real deal. Your dog can roam freely if they’re comfortable around other dogs, and there are lots of dogs on site because the owners run a rescue kennel. Just be careful of the dogs’ trick, they give you that look like, “Take me home and let me stay with you.” We had a good stay in chalet Madalena. Everything was clean, tidy, and in order. The room was cozy, with a fireplace, heater, and heated sheet, so you won’t get cold. There’s a lot of space and facilities including a pool, hot tub, and sauna. The breakfast room is small but fits everyone, and the food was a solid 10. Everyone was attentive and polite. It’s near the center, but don’t use Waze, since it sends you on a much longer route from Av Monte Verde to the inn.

The only thing that nearly stopped us from bringing home a new friend was Baybe, a lovable little mischief maker who seems to have a habit of stealing guests’ flip-flops and the dogs’ food. He stole our hearts too. He slept with us almost every night and was just about the cutest thing ever, though Maizena got jealous. My girlfriend and I stayed at pousada Rohsler with my dog, Maizena, and it was nearly perfect. It’s an ideal place for pets, especially if yours likes jumping into the lakes and pool or sleeping on the bed. There are other sweet dogs around as well, and they love getting treats from the breakfast spread. We’re planning to come back again.

The rescue work is a huge part of what makes Pousada Rohsler appealing to me. The grounds are spacious and fenced, and the kennel cares for more than 300 rescued animals. The staff were attentive and the food was very good. I stayed there in May 2026 with my husband and our two spayed female dogs, ages 2 and 4. I picked Chalé 08 (Breno) for its soaking tub under a glass roof, which looked lovely in the photos. In person, the roof was extremely dirty and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and the view was nothing like the pictures. The chalet also needed maintenance: the tub faucet leaked enough that I put a towel underneath to keep the floor from getting soaked and our dogs from getting wet, and one bathroom sink was clogged and unusable. There was no bathroom door, which made privacy difficult. The dogs had plenty of room to play, though there were areas where I couldn't see the whole space, so at times I kept them on leash for safety. Bringing them to breakfast was also difficult because the dining area is too small for a place with 16 chalets, and the tables are very close together. The breakfast itself was delicious, varied, and plentiful. There is only breakfast, and the chalets don't have a kitchenette. With pets on a natural diet, that was a challenge. Ours had a mini fridge and microwave but no sink, so I had to go to the main kitchen whenever I needed to wash their dishes. For other meals, we had to order delivery or drive into town, which was inconvenient with pets, traffic, and the high local restaurant prices. Two spiders came into the room on the first night. That's understandable in the woods, but there was no repellent in the chalet, so I asked the staff and they brought some promptly. I kept the windows shut after that, and the room got stuffy, especially while using the hydromassage tub. The place has a spirit and a concept I really like. I'd want the glass roof cleaned and maintained, the chalet checked over, more accurate photos, a bathroom door, a sink or basic kitchen setup, repellent in the rooms, and a larger breakfast area. With those changes, the stay could be excellent.

Our dog had space to explore and be close to nature, and the whole weekend felt comfortable. The pousada has a lovely, peaceful feel that made it easy to slow down. We were warmly welcomed from the moment we arrived, and breakfast was fresh and varied. We had such a great time with our pet that we're already hoping to come back.
