Riverside Ponta Negra

We loved everything, and we’ll definitely come back when we can. It was our first trip to the state, and we couldn’t have chosen a better hotel for our honeymoon. All the hosts were so welcoming, especially the reception staff and the guy who takes care of breakfast. Breakfast was delicious, and the fresh tapioca won us over right away. The pool was just what we needed, and the shower and bed were amazing. I also have to mention the hotel’s high-quality hairdryer!

Stay from 11/01/26 to 18/01/26. This was one of the worst places I’ve stayed. I wasn’t expecting a five-star hotel, since that’s not what I booked, but I did expect a basic level of quality for the service we paid for. For two days the shower was broken, and the sink leaked into the room the whole time. The bathroom shower enclosure was completely loose and wobbly, putting us at risk. If it came off, we could even have been made to pay for the repair. We complained, but they didn’t offer another room. They only gave us a key to a disabled access room on the second floor so we could use its bathroom, two floors below ours. How were we supposed to walk through the hotel in a towel? The air conditioner leaked and dripped into the room for days. There was no real support or effort to fix anything. Sheets and towels are changed every three days, and when we asked for fresh ones daily, they said that wasn’t the hotel’s standard. They didn’t provide double bed linen even though we had a double room, just a single sheet and single blanket. I asked reception and was told they only had single bedding. It made me wonder if the hotel even caters to couples. Breakfast was a disaster, the same thing every day: sausage, the same fruits, coffee, and bread. That’s it. The price is low, but it’s the kind of cheap that ends up costing you.

The hotel is simple, the staff are polite, and breakfast was good. My room was cleaned daily, but on my second night I found a scorpion on the bed. The receptionist removed it with a towel and left insecticide in the room, saying they show up often, so I could kill any more myself. They didn't change the sheets after that. When I raised it with the daytime receptionist, she said the place is regularly treated and they take every precaution. Still, the bathroom drain had no cover or screen, the sink was outside the bathroom and had no cover either, and the two rooms occupied by the people traveling with us had the same lack of protection. Thank goodness I spotted it before getting into bed. That scorpion could have turned our holiday into a real ordeal.

The room was filthy, with a dead cockroach, stained curtains and sheets, and no bedspread. The sheets were loose on the bed, and when we fixed them before going to sleep, we saw they were torn too. We asked to move, but were told the place was full. I would give it zero stars if I could.
