Pousada Vale das Flores

A really good hotel.

The service was good from our first conversations and stayed that way during the visit. The grounds were lovely too, with a nice pool and well kept lawn. But the bad points were really bad. We had read complaints about breakfast, room cleanliness, and the mattresses, but assumed they couldn’t be that bad. Unfortunately, the complaints were fair. Breakfast was very poor, the rooms were dirty, and the mattresses were embarrassing. I stayed in two rooms and spoke with other guests who had the same cleanliness complaint. The room I ended up in was just okay, and the one they first put us in wasn’t good.

I visited the inn last week. It’s quite basic and looks different from the photos, and there’s no parking. Since I was there in cold weather, the shower fell short. Breakfast was simple, though it did surprise me, haha.

The breakfast table was always full, even though my husband and I were the only guests for two days. The staff were courteous, and the place was very clean. We had a rough time at the first place we’d booked in Nova Friburgo, so I’m glad things turned out that way because it led us to this wonderful spot on the hill. It’s peaceful, quiet, well organized, and private, great for couples. If you’re looking to rest in Friburgo, this is a lovely place. I’ll definitely return!
