Pousada Villa Romantica

We've stayed here many times and had good memories, but this visit was our last. The grass was overgrown and neglected, and the shower temperature was hard to control. It was really cold and damp, so we left the air conditioner on to warm the room while we went out with our son. When we came back, someone had entered our room and switched it off. We later noticed the sign asking guests to turn off the air when leaving, and we were wrong to miss it. Still, they could have waited for us to return and reminded us. Going into our room while we were away felt very disrespectful.

The hosts were warm and friendly, and the peaceful setting was just right for a rest. We also took part in a race on nearby Morro Malakoff, which worked out perfectly.

The cabin has three separate areas and can comfortably fit up to five people. Breakfast is brought to the room at a time the guest chooses between 8 and 10 in the morning. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, so just bring the ingredients. Since there's no room service, I'd suggest packing extra towels and bedding, especially with kids. The people running the place were attentive from our very first contact. We really recommend the stay if occasional dog barking, a crowing rooster, and traffic on the road out front won't bother you.

We loved the cabins, which were spacious, spotless, and nicely furnished. Breakfast is a highlight: you choose a time, then get a basket overflowing with good things. The inn sits among trees in a quiet spot with a lovely view, and the owners are kind and always looking for ways to make the stay more enjoyable. My husband and I will be back!
