Pousada Miosotis

It’s on a very quiet, unpaved street near the beach. When we arrived, no one answered and we couldn’t find anybody, so we called to cancel our reservation. We can’t really review the inn itself because we didn’t stay. We didn’t want to swim at the beach either: the water didn’t look clear or blue, but seemed muddy. One highlight was the badejo moqueca at restaurant 22 in Centro de Viçosa.

I didn’t end up staying here, but the owner handled my unexpected situation with real care and professionalism. From start to finish, I was treated with respect, empathy and attention. That says a lot about how they look after their guests. If the welcome is this good, I can imagine the stay is too. I’d gladly come back another time, and recommend the inn without hesitation.

The pool was clean and in great shape, and even with the inn quite full during the week of New Year’s, December 24 to 25, the cleaning was excellent. The room, though, smelled musty because it had no windows. The shower was almost impossible to adjust, and most of my showers were so hot and low-pressure that they burned my skin. The mattress wasn’t good either, I could feel the bed base underneath me.

The quiet and the spacious room were what I loved most. We had five comfortable beds, and there’s a nice pool where kids can swim too. The place is lovely and reminds me of my grandma’s house. Breakfast was delicious. They also have snacks for the afternoon or evening, but you need to order ahead at reception and eat them in the dining room.
