Boroni Palace Hotel

We won't stay here again. The price for what you get is really poor, and the building's age means you hear everything from the room upstairs and from the street, which can get very noisy. Our room had two beds, but one was uncomfortably soft while the other was fine. The heating on the air conditioner worked erratically and often showed an error. The hot water was only tepid, even at the highest setting. There was no shampoo, and they didn't offer a bottle of water either. Bottles in the fridge cost 5 reais, with no mention at check-in that they weren't complimentary. For a 500 reais, three-star hotel, that was hard to understand. Breakfast wasn't good overall. It was mostly dry bread and bread-like items that weren't especially tasty. In Minas, I expected more cheese variety, but there were only two kinds, and neither was good. Most of the staff were unpleasant, though one employee was nice and offered tips for things to do around town. We could leave our luggage after checkout, which was helpful. The location isn't the best, though praça Tiradentes is within walking distance. The person who took the reservation was over 60, and when we booked by phone they didn't mention there was no elevator or warn us that the whole ground floor was occupied.
