San Rafael

There’s a fresh coffee pot at reception, and the service team deserves a 1000. I recommend the hotel. It’s now under new management and called Port Brasil. My room was spacious, with a comfortable mattress, clean bedding, new air conditioning, a wardrobe, table, chair, safe, minibar, and blackout curtain. The bathroom was a good size, with a good shower, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hair dryer. The hotel also serves tasty dinners, which makes staying there much easier. There’s a pool and a games room as well.

The staff were helpful and polite, and there’s parking. The restaurant serves breakfast early, and has some good dinner options compared with what’s available on the street. The rooms are small, though, and have a slight musty smell that goes away once you turn on the air conditioning. It’s a reasonable hotel.

The pool is nice and big, but you can really only use it when it’s hot. Breakfast was good, the place was clean, and the staff were attentive. There’s no elevator. Shops are nearby, and it’s possible to walk to the boat departure for Ilha do Mel. I went during the week between Christmas and New Year and got a last-minute deal on Booking.

The hotel is in a great spot, close to the city’s main activity areas. Breakfast is good, though there isn’t much variety. The room had some broken things and maintenance was lacking, and the hotel’s facilities are getting a bit dated. For what they offer, the nightly price doesn’t seem right.
