A little slice of paradise.

We came with 16 people hoping for a relaxing break, but the stay turned into frustration, discomfort, and embarrassment. The house is big, but its size means little when it lacks upkeep, cleanliness, and respect for paying guests. Getting there is also a problem: the steep entrance slope is too much for an ordinary car in the rain, and apparently you need a 4x4. The listing photos gave us a completely different impression. Inside, it felt abandoned, with grime, mold, a bad smell, cobwebs, old beds, and no basic care. The cracked glass table, broken leaking fridge, torn sofa, loose bathtub, and air conditioning that didn’t work in two bedrooms were all there. The kitchen was so grimy we had to wash everything before using it. There was no hot water in the bathrooms, and the outdoor bathrooms were dirty and full of insects. Outside wasn’t the lovely area shown in the photos either. It had broken chairs, filthy flooring, and a wrecked sun lounger. We left feeling deceived. Honestly, this was the worst place I’ve stayed in Paraty, and I feel sorry for anyone else who gets caught by the same trap. Our trip was meant to be restful and became stressful. I wouldn’t wish that experience on anyone.

We were a group of 16 hoping to unwind and ended up having a miserable time. The house may be spacious, but without cleanliness, maintenance, or respect for guests, that doesn’t count for much. None of these problems had been disclosed before we rented it, including the steep driveway, which an ordinary car can’t climb in rainy weather. You’d need a 4x4. The photos are completely misleading. The place seemed abandoned when we arrived, with dirt, mold, a strong smell, old beds, cobwebs, and no sign of care. A glass table was cracked down the middle, the fridge was broken and leaking, the sofa was ripped, the bathtub was loose, and the air conditioning in two bedrooms didn’t work. The kitchen was disgusting, with sticky, dirty cupboards and utensils. There was no hot water in the bathrooms, and the outdoor bathrooms were infested with insects. The outdoor area was in bad shape too, with broken chairs, a filthy floor, and a torn sun lounger. I left angry and frustrated, feeling cheated. This was the worst place I’ve stayed in Paraty, and I truly wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what we did.

The stay was made especially good by Michelle and her team. They were warm and attentive, answered quickly, and sorted out every issue promptly and with a good humor. Célia, the cook, was an absolute sweetheart. My whole family wanted to take her home with us, haha. The food was delicious, and she was so helpful and cheerful. Chácara rio pequeno sits among the mountain trees, with a view out to the sea. Our group of 16 all slept really well. The scenery looked like something from a movie, and waking up to it in 2026 was one of the best ways to start the year. We had wonderful days there and will definitely come back.
