Pousada Colibri

Several times after we arrived, I was asked to pay the remaining balance as soon as possible. It felt like they thought we might not pay, or might be unhappy once we saw the place, but then it would already be paid. I asked to see the room they had assigned us. Its door was about a meter in front of what looked like an improvised reception counter. I’d requested an upstairs room in advance for less noise and more privacy. They then told us to cancel our Booking reservation so they could look for another room, and we stayed outside the platform booking. They offered only one alternative, with a balcony facing a wall. I wouldn’t have minded that by itself, but other rooms were available, including one with an open, unobstructed view. By then we’d gone upstairs and left our things, so we let it go. The Wi-Fi barely worked, and when it did the signal was very poor. The power went out several times before a general blackout in the village. There was no generator, though I don’t blame the inn for the blackout itself. The TV could hardly tune in any channels. The parking area was about a meter from a steep, exposed dirt embankment around five meters high. I was worried about our car and the others, since there was no retaining structure and a real risk of the vehicles being buried in a landslide. It rained for 80% of our stay. The rain wasn’t the inn’s fault, but the possible effects of rain should be considered in the design.

I don’t recommend this place. The location is poor, and the parking area doesn’t have enough spaces, making it hard to maneuver vehicles, especially medium and large ones. There was no breakfast. The staff showed little warmth or courtesy and barely greeted guests. The towels were very poor quality. The sink was clogged; we asked to change rooms, but they didn’t agree, and the problem wasn’t fixed either.

I don’t even know where to start with the praise. My partner and I have stayed at Colibri many times, and whenever we get the chance, we escape back there. Daniela is a lovely person, and we’re always welcomed so warmly. The room is always very clean and smells fresh, and the service is first class. We recommend it to everyone!

I expected more. The place is poorly set up, and the service was just so-so. I stayed over a holiday, and they didn’t clean the room or change the towels or sheets. The parking was awful.
