Pousada do Sino

I booked two days for my girlfriend and me, paid half upfront, and almost a week later the owner messaged me on WhatsApp saying he'd made a mistake with the price. Since it was Carnival, he said he could only rent it to us for four days and would return the money. To me, he went back on his word because someone else was willing to pay more. He came across as a money-grabber, not a pousada owner who cares about guests. The Pousada do Sino is also quite far from Paraty's center. I found a great pousada 450 meters from the center instead. Don't book this one. The owner ruined half my vacation.

The owners were friendly, but the pousada was hard to find, poorly marked and in a bad location. Breakfast was weak, and they kept changing its hours because of poor management. Our tiny room had a double bed and a bunk bed, with no room for our bags. The minibar barely cooled anything, and the Wi-Fi didn't work.

A month after the booking, the guy called to say there wouldn't be a room available for the reservation made through Booking. He told me to cancel it and pay the penalty because he didn't want to rent to me. He'd simply rented the room to someone else for more money. Thanks for ruining my vacation. Very clever, huh.

We booked an 8-day stay for 3 adults, 1 child and 1 baby. The room had a small double bed and a bunk bed, and at first I thought the tight fit might be manageable. It wasn't. The room was tiny, with the beds and a wooden rack crammed together, and there was no wardrobe. There were only 2 hangers, one broken, and when I asked for more, they said they didn't have any. How is someone supposed to keep clothes from getting wrinkled over 8 days, especially with little kids' clothes too? Breakfast was the simplest I've had at any pousada. On the plus side, the staff were friendly.
